The Christmas Ornament
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 31, 2009
Josie gets to write all the poems
But I will have my turn
I want to write a poem about
How she began a Christmas ornament
Josie is not a good flyer, in fact
She gets in to a lot of trouble with
Her crash landings and such
Her last one was the best
She couldn’t stop and flew
Straight into the Christmas tree
And became an ornament
Mommy started laughing
It was a sight to see
A yellow feathered budgie
Trying to get out of the tree
She really looked silly hanging there
I can fly better than that and
I told her so, maybe next year
She will be the star on the top
After all she thinks she is already

How We Got Our Names
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 31, 2009
Everyone asks us how we got our names
It really is quite simple; they just fit who we are
I am Josie Smarty-pants Nibbles
Smarty-pants is simple, that was the
Name of my mate, he was a very
Clever budgie and suited that name
Nibbles is what I like to do to my
Mommy’s ears, but especially to
Shining jewellery I want for my very own
So she gave me all the names and that is
What I’m called
I’m Kiko-san Chatterbox and I live up
To my name, I chatter all day long so
Chatterbox is my last name
Kiko means a life child and she
Told me that I had such a will to live
She had to name me that
So you see our names are quite
Ordinary just like human children
Who have very different names
It doesn’t really matter what you
Are called, you are loved just the same

I Like His Food Better
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 31, 2009
I like to eat all Kiko’s seeds
They just taste much nicer
I wait until he leaves his house
And sneak in for a bite
Mommy tells me all the seeds
Are the same and I’m a little brat
I don’t believe her, she can’t be right
What she gives him is always better

Mirrors
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 31, 2009
We have special friends that we see everyday
Kiko-san says my friend looks just like me
We talk and chatter all day long
But we never meet
Mommy tells us that our friends are
Just us looking in our mirrors
We just don’t believe her
She can’t be right, there is no
Such thing as budgies in a mirror

We Are Bored
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 30, 2009
Mommy is a writer
And we get quite upset
She forgets about us
When she starts something new
It is so boring when
She gets this way
So we yell at her
To come and play
She found an answer
To our problem
She gave us our own site
Now we get to write about
All the things we like

Millet
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 30, 2009
This is my poem and I get to talk about millet:
You can have your carrots and such
I love millet; red, yellow or brown
I just want it all
For breakfast, lunch or dinner
Bring it on
Mommy says it make me fat
I don’t really care
She can eat her chocolate and
I get what I want

Come Fly With Me!
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on December 20, 2009
I can fly,
I can fly so high!
Make a wish and spread your wings,
Come and play with me!
For, I am a little budgie, and
I can fly and I can really soar!
You are a little boy, who can only sit and watch,
You dream and plan that magic time when you will really fly!
Then come fly with me and feel the wind lift up my tiny wings,
For I am your dream of flight come true!
When you dream the way, you do.

The Budgies’ Prayer
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on October 17, 2009
Two little budgies had a little prayer
They wanted God to hear
“We thank you dear Creator
For each other’s company
We thank you for the
Budgie seeds and millet we get everyday
We thank you for the safe little homes
We rest in every night
We thank you for our mommy
Who love and care for us
We thank you for our
Gift of speech
We especially want to thank you
For the ability to fly”
Amen

Busy Budgies
Posted by ceol in Poems from the Perch on October 17, 2009
We are very busy budgies
We have lots to do all day
We keep our mommy busy
And supervise everything
We chatter and squawk to
Make our wishes known
We tell her how to do things
You think she would already know
We know how to wash the clothes
And put away the dishes
We tell her how to sweep the floors
And clean the windows too
We are so very busy
We really get quite tired
So now, our poem is ended
We have to have a nap
