I am a budgie and I can answer almost any question you might have about us. 

What is your favourite food?

Millet, but just make sure your mate doesn’t eat it all.

How long to budgies live?

We can live to be 14 years old with lots of kindness.

 Why are budgies good pets?

  We are smart, we can talk to you, don’t take up much room.  Besides we  are very pretty.

Were can you buy a budgie?

   You can get us at a pet store, a very good breeder or a rescue sanctuary.

  What colours are budgies?

 We come in all colours; blue, green, white, yellow, purple (very rare). As you can see I am bright yellow budgie, with pink feet and red eyes.

   How far can you fly?

In the house, we just make short trips, in the wild we fly very far to find  food.  

Where do budgies come from? 

 We come from the outback of Australia, but now you find us all over the world as pets.

What is your favourite toy?

My mirror,  Some budgies like bells, swings, whiffle balls (we can play budgie soccer).

 Do budgies talk?

Yes, we talk very fast (200 times faster than humans). Sometimes you can understand us if you listen very closely.

 Where do you sleep?

I have a cage and sleep in there, I tuck my head under my wing and usually stand on one foot.   I have a cover over my cage, so it is nice and dark and warm

Do budgies like to have company?

Oh yes!!! Humans and other budgies are the best. We do like other animals as long as they don’t want us for dinner.

Are male budgies more colourful than the females?

Male and female budgies are both very colourful. 

What time do you get up in the morning?

 I get up when Mommy does.  Sometimes I even get to sleep in.

Will you wake me up too?

Oh,yes.  We can call and call until you get up to feed us. We can be very loud!

Can I let my budgies out of their cages?

 You can let us out as long as the windows and doors are closed.  We like to get out to fly and play.

Do you like to be patted or touched?

 Some of us like our head scratched, but the acid from your hands burns our feathers. We do like our beaks touched.

Will my budgie sit on my hand or shoulder?

 We like to sit on hands and shoulders, espcially shoulders, we can nibble your ears and talked to you.

What size cage to you like? 

 I have a very nice large cage. I like to climb and hop from perch to perch.
